Life is defined by experiences, interactions, memories. Preciosa creates lighting with emotion, lighting that connects people, refined from their cultivation of the past. The company is inviting everyone to share with them the joy of light at Downtown Design Dubai.

Preciosa Lighting, the Czech lighting manufacturer, will be launching its award-winning, interactive lighting experience, Carousel of Light, in the Middle East at this year’s Downtown Design exhibition in Downtown Design District.

The UAE remained one of the most visited countries in 2018, with Dubai attracting 15.9 million visitors, according to official figures issued by the emirate’s tourism body, Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing. Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism reported the emirate welcomed a total of 5 million hotel guests in 2018. Hotels are big business, and all eyes are on the UAE’s hospitality industry as the country readies itself to welcome the 17.5 million international visitors Expo 2020 Dubai is expecting.

In response to Expo 2020 Dubai, the UAE’s hospitality sector is growing significantly, with the number of new hotels and rooms under construction in the emirates exceeding other countries in the Middle East. According to benchmarking company STR’s July 2019 hotel pipeline data, the UAE will boost capacity by adding 54,438 new hotel rooms within the next year.

“The Dubai real estate market is extremely competitive, whether you are developing a commercial, hospitality or residential project. Properties that can differentiate themselves through highly customized options as well as offering unique experiences will have the business edge,” said Martin Fryzelka, Managing Director Preciosa Gulf.

Preciosa Lighting offers a range of bespoke lighting solutions, giving hotels the opportunity to create a unique experience for guests. Its award-winning Canopy of Light welcomes visitors stepping into Dubai’s Mandarin Oriental Jumeira’s lobby with 14 trees made from hundreds of hand-blown Bohemian crystal leaves. The Middle East debut of Carousel of Light, inspired by Preciosa Lighting’s signature design, Pearl Curtain, offers hotels seeking to enhance the guest experience through light another breathtaking installation.

“We are incredibly honoured by the tremendous positive feedback we’ve received on our recent installations. What we keep repeatedly hearing from people is the images and videos don’t do justice to the real installation,” said Michael Vasku, Creative Director for Preciosa Lighting.

“The feelings and emotions the actual experience creates cannot be transported via media. This may be disappointing for some people, but not me. It is the joy of life to experience such moments in person and there is no digital substitution. We go to fairs such as Downtown Design to enable as many people as possible to join us in our exploration of emotional lighting installations.”

Fryzelka added: “Our installations embody creativity, inventiveness and a strong design aesthetic. This is what makes them stand out and is why the UAE’s hospitality sector has embraced them. Brands and hotels are seeking ways to offer something truly unique to differentiate themselves, and bringing people together through interactive lighting installations is proving to be immensely popular among the UAE’s luxury hotels.”

Preciosa Lighting will also be showcasing its newest table lamp, Siren, at the entrance of Downtown Design. Vasku explained: “Working with leading multidisciplinary design studio, Wilson Associates, who were tasked with designing the fair’s entrance, we are providing Siren, which will add a touch of Bohemian sparkle.”

Downtown Design Dubai is the Middle East’s largest celebration of original, high-quality design. Preciosa Lighting will be participating in the event for the fourth time. In the Middle East, the brand offers luxurious lighting installations for both public spaces and private residences. Some of the company’s recent projects include Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Emirates Hospital Jumeirah and The Address Downtown Dubai.
