Humanscale, an award-winning designer and manufacturer of ergonomic solutions for work and home spaces, has announced the appointment of a new Managing Director for its Middle East and North Africa operations, based in Dubai.

Frazer Butcher arrives at Humanscale with over ten years’ experience, including six years in the UAE. During his career in architecture and design, Butcher has worked with leading global manufacturers of interior products and solutions, including Kvadrat Soft Cells A/S, Interface, Haworth and Herman Miller.

Prior to joining Humanscale, Butcher was the Regional Sales Manager of Kvadrat Soft Cells, MENA. His key responsibilities included setting the strategic direction and fiscal commercial budget of the MENA business.

Butcher holds a BSc Degree (Hons) in Architectural Design and Technology. Since graduating, he has worked across the highly competitive markets of the UK and the UAE. Of his experience, Butcher said: “My career so far has allowed me to experience projects from the building design phase to the final implementation of finishes, giving me a unique overview of the complete process. It has allowed me to gain a broad understanding of the differing factors within buildings, offices and homes that affect our wellbeing.”

Butcher will report directly to Tim Hutchings, President at Humanscale International. With full responsibility for the development of Humanscale’s Middle East and North Africa business, Butcher will play a key role in achieving the company’s ambitious growth goals. He will also be focusing on further penetrating the region’s retail market as well as building on Humanscale’s outstanding reputation for delivering consumer-driven solutions into offices and homes.

Of his appointment, Butcher said: “I have always been very passionate about design, which led me into this field. As a business, Humanscale embodies innovation and has consistently designed ergonomic products with the users’ wellbeing in mind. I’m very proud to have joined the team and am looking forward to sharing our message.

Butcher is also an active committee member of the CoreNet (Corporate Real Estate Network) Middle East Chapter, which focuses on the promotion of best practice within Corporate Real Estate globally. Butcher said: ”CoreNet is a fantastic organisation with over 10,000 members globally. Locally, we’re committed to growing our community and learning together to improve all aspects of Real Estate.”

Originally from Wales, Butcher began his professional studies in Cardiff at the University of Wales Institute. His first role following graduation was as an Architectural Technologist, also in Cardiff, in 2007. In 2009, Butcher moved to London and began to focus more on enhancing environments through commercial interiors. Butcher now lives in Dubai with his wife and son. During his free time, Butcher enjoys travelling to new places and spending quality time with family and friends.
